In the age of digital music, finding free music via the internet is becoming increasingly easy.  From websites that are devoted to streaming music to paying customers, free online music services and even social networking sites, you have a multitude of genres and songs to choose from.  We have taken a list of some of the best in each category to show you where you can find free, and even some cheap ways to listen at work and home.

Grooveshark.com
Grooveshark is a simple, no nonsense site that offers the most popular artists along with some of the underground bands making their way in the business.  This is one of the easiest sites to navigate and use.

Sideload.com
Huge amounts of music can be found on Sideload with an option to legally download your favorite tunes onto your mobile phone.  You can store songs in an online "locker" that will allow you to keep and access your personal favorites whenever you log on.

Songza.com
An extensive library of songs with virtually every popular track, this is a great site for finding and saving personally playlists on your own "internet jukebox".  You'll even be able to find many rare and live tracks on this site.

Deezer.com
One of the original free music websites, Deezer has over 2 million tracks and a large community of users where it is possible to share music.  Very user friendly.

Hypem.com
Hypem is different than most music sites in that it offers a blogging community for users to talk about individual songs and artists as they listen to tracks for free.  It encompasses the best of the latest and most popular songs and is arguably one of the best free music sites available today.

Musicovery.com
Musicovery is a different breed of music search engine.  Instead of searching by title or artist, you can search by genre or even your current mood.  By searching with the mood feature, music that fits and energetic or calm temperament is selected for you.  Genres will allow you to choosy from types as well as the decade the song was written.  It harbors some great new music and serves as a great interactive radio station as well.

Jango.com
Jango allows you to save a preferred playlist, just as you would on a search engine site, but also will play other artists as well on your personalized radio station. 

Last.fm
Last has a smaller music library, but users can personalize their streaming music by choosing favorite artists.  Similar artist's material will be played in addition to personal choices, giving users a great venue for finding new music.  Many tracks are free of charge to download too.

Youtube.com
Youtube is one of the definitive sites for locating music videos, as well as finding music or artists.  You can see live performances and recordings that are not found on other sites. 

Myspace.com
Most artists have a MySpace account these days, so finding and listening to their tracks online is easy.  MySpace also provides a great place to find out about upcoming live shows and to share music with other users.

ITunes
ITunes tracks can be purchased for as little as 99 cents per song.  The unfortunate thing about these downloadable tracks is that they are only compatible with the IPod brand mp3 player.  There are over one million songs in the library and it is a simple, easy-to use site.

Sirius/XM Radio
This online radio site costs a small monthly fee to use but once a user, you can access stations that specialize in comedy, talk radio, and every genre of music available. Users access these stations online by signing in.  The catch? The initial set up requires users to purchase or have installed a specialized car stereo as this programming was initially used for automobiles exclusively.   

Rhapsody
Rhapsody is an easy to use Microsoft compatible online program that allows users to purchase a monthly pass for as little as $9.95 or download individual songs starting at 99 cents each.  With over one million songs, this site carries a variety of genres and always has the most popular and most listened to tracks available.
