If you own your own horses, providing horse riding lessons can provide you with a great income. For the individual that loves being around horses and truly likes to show others the beauty of this animal, horse riding lessons are the ideal job. Providing horse back riding lessons for children, adults and even disabled people can be a lucrative business if you know what you're doing. When you start your horse riding business, start slow. This could be as simple as adding stalls to your barn, cleaning up the pastures and fences or extend to doing roads and building a ranch from scratch. Unless you start with business partners you'll want to have the foundation of the facility up and working with a couple horses before you start advertising. Hook up with a local vet and feed store for special pricing opportunities and to get leads. You'll need enough horses to make it profitable, but not too many that you can't effectively handle the operation with minimal staff.  Proper riding equipment can be expensive, but you'll need to have it for every size of customer as well as the different types of riding styles if you're offering more than one. The space you will need to not only include pasture and stabling, but also the land where you'll be riding if you plan to do more than what your pasture allows. You'll need to get permission from other land owners to use their area and possibly pay them a fee for use.

Starting a horse riding stable and riding facility requires an enormous capital investment, and this type of business start-up is strictly for the experienced horse fanatic, not to mention that you must be a seasoned business veteran. You can't very well run this type of business alone so you'll need to figure out how to pay staff to run the business side as well as hire trained riders to help new customers out. However, in the end, the potential for a successful riding ranch is well worth the initial costs.

Owning your own horse riding business is an investment but you can expect to make about $25 an hour or more. Most horse riding lesson teachers will instruct around 3-5 classes a day and have children and adults come in groups of 5-10 people. Of course, you will need to hire someone to help you supervise the horses and the individuals riding them.
