Large pores
By LifeBuilder
Large pores are caused from your genetic make-up, age, and how well you take care of your face. When the pores are clogged with oil, they tend to look more prominent and may appear to be large pores. It is also common to notice large pores the older we get as this is a natural part of the skin ageing process. If you have had several sunburns over the course of your lifetime or you have spent a great deal of time in the sun, you will be prone to having large pored because the skin is unable to retain its elasticity as well as it can in other areas.
Most people notice large pores around their nose. This is because the nose is a gathering place for oils and it is hard to keep it free from blackheads. The pores on the nose usually collect bacteria and oil along with other things like dirt and this causes the pore to expand. This same philosophy applies when you have regular acne that causes the pores to expand. The pores will return to their regular size when you are able to get the bacteria and dirt out of the pore and then keep it clean.
Even celebrities and dermatologists will experience large pores. No matter how well you are able to clean your face and control your acne; there will be times when you experience large pores through no fault of your own. If your genetic make-up requires you to have large pores, there isn't much you can do about it. There is not a way to shrink large pores, only limit their appearance through proper skin care.
Individuals with naturally large pores have found that taking daily Vitamin C supplements has helped to reduce the appearance of large pores. It also helps to do a facemask once a week to remove excess dirt from deep inside the pores. Use benzyl peroxide or witch hazel on the areas of the skin that tend to have large pores. Usually this area is the nose. Several companies have developed things like nose strips and facial strips that are designed to cling onto the head of the zit and then pull it out of the pore, thereby removing all the dirt and bacteria from the pore. This is an effective way to reduce the appearance of large pores because they are no longer clogged up with excess dirt.
Another way to reduce the appearance of large pores is to have a microdermabrasion. This can be done at home or you can have a cosmetologist perform it. When you go in for a microdermabrasion, you will have the top layer of dead skin cells removed from your face. This will cause healthy skin to be revealed, which will lessen the appearance of large pores. The downside to having a microdermabrasion is that your skin may react differently to it by becoming bright red and painful.
Both men and women can use foundation skin primer to lessen the appearance of large pores. This makeup will coat your skin and prevent dirt and other things from getting inside the pores, which can cause the pores to look larger. The skin primer may be all you need to reduce the appearance of large pores, however you can use a layer of foundation if you can still see your large pores. Powder can also be used to even out the skin tone and lessen the appearance of large pores.
All in all, proper skin care is the best way to reduce the appearance of large pores. If you were born with a genetic defect to have large pores, this is something you will have to battle you entire life, especially as your skin starts the natural ageing process.
