My girlfriend is catty

I am sick of being friends with most of the people I am friends with. It is not really anything about them, particularly, but just how they act as a group. I have a lot of girlfriends who are constantly competing for the same guys, competing to see who dresses the best, or who has the best party, etc. I am getting really sick of it. I fell like everyone is so fake, two-faced, etc. I don't get why girls can't just be friends, why are they so catty?

The easy answer to why girls are often catty is that they are insecure. When a girl is insecure, cattiness if often soon to follow. The competition, backstabbing, and drama is their way of compensating for their bad feelings about themselves, and their low self esteem. Most girl who are catty want to put off a persona of being extra sure of themselves, thinking they are totally beautiful, competent, smart, a real catch and that every guy likes them. They will often belittle others as their way of securing this idea in their mind.

This is something women have to put up with for the majority of their life. As they interact with other women, they will face people who are insecure, who want to tear them down in order to build themselves up. So, you have to know that you will find these people over and over, and that your best course of action is to ignore them. Do not try to change them. Do not try and find that spark of good. Sure, they may have one, and you may be successful, but there is an even better chance that you will incur a lot of effort and drama, and possibly a lot of disappointment. Instead, just move forward, and find people who aren't catty.

Not being their friends is a good idea. It is going to involve a lot of drama, and a lot of trouble. Most catty girls thrive on making others feel bad about themselves, so they are going to spread gossip, lies, innuendos, and rumors about people in order to bolster themselves, and in order to deal with their emotions. So, if you are one of those "friends" you will be facing a lot of gossip, back biting, and the like, which can be very frustrating and tiring.

If your girlfriends are catty, then ignore them, and start the search for new friends, you will appreciate a good friend, once you have them. You will realize that ending a friendship with them, while slightly inconvenient will not leaving you feeling any sort of void or real loss.

If your girlfriends are being catty, then make sure that it does not rub off on you. Do not start the competing, and do not start the backbiting. If you do, you will be the type of person that others should avoid and ignore.
