Understanding men and their fashion

Men and fashion do not always go hand in hand. Men are not born to shop the way women are, and this is why terms like "metrosexual" have originated. However, in order to understand men, you have to understand the way they think about fashion.

Fact one: Men like to look good.

Some people think that men are not as fashion conscious as women because they do not care if they look good. This is simply not the case. Men want to look good, they just do it differently than women. Women look good for other women. They dress in the latest trends, do their hair all up, and wear all of the accessories in order to impress other women. They will buy a shirt that their boyfriend does not love because their girlfriends love it. Men want to look good for themselves, and for women.

Fact two: While men like to look good, they are unwilling to sacrifice comfort to do so.

Yes, they want to look great, get complimented on their clothes, and be noticed for their fashion, but they won't wear something that pinches their feet, or makes it hard to breathe to do so. Most men would rather go out in sweats and an old tee-shirt that wear pants that pinch their stomach, or shoes that pinch their feet, no matter how trendy they are, or how great their butt looks.

Fact three: Brand matters, but fit matters more.

Women will often pass up a shirt that fits great, for a name brand shirt that fits okay. For a man, the fit is the number one priority. They do not want to have to strain into pants, or wear a shirt that does not sit right. They would rather wear an off brand article of clothing that feels good and fits right, then a popular brand that just does not fit for their body.

Fact four: Men do not have to look good all of the time.

Most men have their fashion sense, but they can throw it out the window if they want to lounge at home. Women want to look good all of the time, even their pajamas have to be cute. For a guy, even though they want to look good, and fit their own style, they are okay with looking like a mess when they are lounging at home watching a game, or hanging with the guys. So, you may see a man in his best one minute, and in his ratty sweats he wore back in high school the next. Sentimental value is not strong, but most guys have one or two garments that they hang on to, no matter how old or gross the thing gets.

Men are not ignorant of fashion, or untouched by it, but they do not usually place as much importance on it as women do. If you can understand that they care, but do not hang their happiness on it, you can understand men and fashion.

Well, you haven't met my son yet. He takes more time in the bathroom and the dressing room than my daughter! And he likes to look good all the time! And in general, my opinion, I prefer a man to look and smell good All the time. :)
